Amniotic Membrane
Biological characteristics
The Amniotic Membrane derived from donors after elective cesarean section is composed by an epidermal layer and an underlying connective tissue able to confer an high tensile strength. It is a source of various biologically active factors involved in tissue regeneration and wound healing. The amniotic membrane also shows anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties in addition to provide a structural support for growth and cell migration.
Size
The Amniotic Membrane distributed by Skin Bank ERR can have different size ranging from 4 to 12 cm in length and 3 to 8 cm in width.
Clinical Use
The Amniotic Membrane is widely used in ophthalmology and dermatology. It is distributed by Skin Bank ERR in the dermatological field for the treatment of burns and/or non-healing wounds.
